Clinton is well known in the region for its rich history and vibrant antique scene!
Clinton is located along the Clinch River, immediately downstream from a point where the southwestward-flowing river bends sharply to the northeast before wrapping around Lost Ridge and continuing again toward the southwest. It is surrounded by a series of long, narrow ridges that represent the western fringe of the Appalachian Ridge and Valley Province. There is plenty to do in Clinton including fishing, swimming, parks, and more! Take a step back in time while exploring Historic Downtown Clinton.
Historic Downtown Clinton is rated in the top 10 antiquing districts in the country. Stroll the sidewalks and browse the many unique shops filled with a large selection of quality antiques, collectibles, and gifts. While shopping, be sure to stop in for lunch at one of the unique eateries downtown.The commute to and from Oak Ridge or Knoxville is nice and easy, even at peak traffic periods. The I-40 and I-75 congestion that occurs almost daily is easily avoided when traveling to and from Clinton whether for work, shopping, dining, or exploring the various cultural and natural venues located within a just few minutes drive. The City is well into the process of implementing an economic development initiative and
"Downtown Vision" with a new bridge across the Clinch River (under construction now) and re-development of a large section of riverfront retail property (the former Magnet Mills Site). The vision includes construction of new "street-scapes" that will connect the riverfront development with the historic downtown antique area on Main and Market Streets. The vision also includes new developments along the river front with new retail spaces and "urban" style housing right on the water.

Museum of Appalachia
The Museum of Appalachia is a living history museum - a pioneer mountain farm-village that lends voice to the people of Southern Appalachia through the artifacts and stories they left behind. Founded in 1969 by John Rice Irwin, the Museum is now a non-profit organization, and a Smithsonian Affiliate museum. We offer self-guided tours, and are open every day of the week.
